The video, over 18 minutes long, is similar to Apple’s digital events that the company has hosted over the past few years.

Some have speculated that the 18-minute video was a cut from a larger event the company planned to host in October or November 2022 that included more than just the announcements of the new Mac M2 Pro and M2 Max. Same seen on twitterAR files for the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models were compiled in October 2022, three months before the new Macs were announced.

Typically, each fall, Apple holds an event in September to announce its latest iPhone and Apple Watch models. Leading up to fall 2022, there have been increasing rumors that Apple is planning two events between September and December, one for the iPhone and Apple Watch, and the other for the Mac and iPad.

According to rumors circulating at the time, the latest event was to be entirely focused on Apple’s updated silicon Macs and iPads, including updated next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and next-generation iPad Pros. In September, bloombergMark Gurman revealed that Apple has canceled plans for a second digital event in the fall and will instead release the remaining products for 2022 through press releases on its website.

In October, Apple announced a refreshed iPad Pro with the M2 and a refreshed entry-level 10th generation iPad in press releases. In mid-December, Gurman revealed that new Macs were scheduled to launch in “early” 2023.

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros have M2 Pro or M2 Max chip options based on the performance of the M1 Pro and M1 Max. The new chips provide even better performance and higher storage capacity combined with 96GB of M2 Max. New Macs also now support 8K external displays with a more advanced HDMI port, and the 16-inch model has the longest battery life of any Mac.

This week, Apple also announced a new Mac mini with the same design as the previous generation model, but now with the M2 or M2 Pro. The new Mac mini and MacBook Pro are available for pre-order on Apple’s website and will ship to customers on Tuesday, January 24th.
