Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic criticized striker Serge Gnabry for his “amateur” visit to Paris Fashion Week, saying “the title is at stake”.
Gnabry traveled to Paris after Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Leipzig on Friday and shared pictures of the trip on social media.
Salihamidzic reacted after Bayern drew 1-1 at home against Cologne on Tuesday.
Gnabry was substituted at half time. Coach Julian Nagelsmann said after the game that he wanted to bring “a breath of fresh air”.
Salihamidzic later suggested that the German forward was not fully focused.
“That’s amateurish, that’s exactly what Bayern Munich is not, to frolic somewhere when you have a day off,” the sporting director said, hinting that the former Arsenal striker may face consequences.
“A day off is to rest to be able to step on the accelerator in the next game.
“We’ll talk about it on Wednesday, for sure. Of course it’s necessary to talk about it.”
Gnabry, 27, had already been criticized in the German media.
Speaking on Monday, Nagelsmann said the striker had not broken any rules but needed to “give the right response (to criticism) on the pitch.”
Salihamidzic said on Tuesday that an 11th straight title was not a given for the perennial German champions.
“(It’s) time for us to change gears and realize that the championship is now on the line.”
