On Friday morning, the Big 12 Conference released its conference schedule for the upcoming men’s basketball season. Below is what Jerome Tang will be up against in his first season in the Big 12, as well as some notes on the schedule. A full breakdown will arrive in the coming days.

Conference opener on New Year’s Eve against West Virginia TBD

Notable games

The Wildcats will open conference play at home against West Virginia on New Year’s Eve. Game time and TV designation have yet to be announced. The last time the Wildcats opened conference play at home was the 2019 season when they lost to Texas 67-47. In 2018, K-State opened the Big 12 game at home on New Year’s Day against the Mountaineers and lost 77-69 to the then No. 6 team.

Jerome Tang won’t have to wait long to make his first trip to Waco as an opponent, as the Wildcats will spend the first week of January at Lonestar State with a game Tuesday against Texas at their new basketball facility and then Saturday at Waco. against the Bears.

The first Sunflower Showdown of 2023 will be in Manhattan on Tuesday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m. The Wildcats make their return trip to Lawrence on Tuesday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m.

The last home game of 2023 will be against Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 1. This will be the third time since 2019 that K-State’s final home game is against the Sooners. The regular season ends that weekend in Morgantown, a full 63 days after the Wildcats began their conference season against West Virginia to close out the season.

K-State opens the season on November 7 against UTRGV. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a road trip to California, the second game of the season and the Big 12/Big East Battle at Butler. Also announced earlier in the week, Wichita State’s game scheduled for December 3 will kick off at 8:00 pm K-State and Nebraska will play the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on December 17.
