Pulisic, 24, was scheduled to be a point man (as usual) for the USMNT in their last two friendlies before the World Cup begins in November.

However, US Soccer released a statement after Pulisic was left out of the starting lineup for the friendly against Japan in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Statement on Pulisic

“Christian Pulisic is off today’s list due to a knock he took in training earlier this week. He will be evaluated day by day on his availability to play against Saudi Arabia on September 27 in Murcia, Spain”.

So Pulisic could also miss the match against Saudi Arabia.

This is not great news for Gregg Berhalter, who will have wanted his best starting line-up together for these last two friendlies.

With Zack Steffen, Yunus Musah, Antonee Robinson, Chris Richards, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Tim Weah and now Pulisic out injured, this isn’t the best preparation possible. However, it offers opportunities for others.

Berhalter, Pulisic and all USMNT fans are hoping this is just a small issue and doesn’t affect the Chelsea winger at all ahead of the World Cup which starts in less than 60 days.
