Grandparents vaping for the first time delight the Internet: ‘Dizzy’

A man named Luca persuaded his grandparents to try vaping for the first time, but after trying it they asked him if he had given them drugs because they felt “dizzy”.

A video shared on TikTok by the grandson, under the username Lucapilati_, shows him handing his grandparents a vaporizer and the couple fuming, looking pleased.

The clip came with a caption that reads, “Having my grandparents try a vaporizer for the first time…they asked if it was drugs afterwards because they got dizzy.”

A file image shows an elderly couple vaping. One man tried to get his grandparents to try vaping and said they felt “woozy” afterward.

The British National Health Service (NHS) says that vaporizers and e-cigarettes are “much less harmful than cigarettes”, and proposes them as a way to cut down on cigarettes for good.

But Johns Hopkins Medicine says that vaping can be just as bad, if not worse. Because nicotine is the main agent in both regular and e-cigarettes, both products are toxic and addictive.

In addition, many e-cigarette users get even more nicotine than they would from a combustible tobacco product, he said, noting that users can buy extra-strength cartridges, with a higher concentration of nicotine, or increase the wattage of the e-cigarette to get a major hit of the substance.

In the US, vaping is becoming a bigger problem among children and young adults. YouGov’s annual youth survey for Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) shows that current vaping among children ages 11-17 increased from 4 percent in 2020 to 7 percent in 2022.

Their data also shows that disposable e-cigarettes are now the most used product among current vapers, more than seven times from 7 percent in 2020 and 8 percent in 2021 to 52 percent in 2022.

The video, first shared on the platform on Monday, has been viewed more than 562,800 times and received more than 51,000 likes.
