Squads announced for friendlies with Serbia and Colombia

The interim coach of the United States men’s national team, Anthony Hudson, has named his roster for the January friendlies against Serbia and Colombia.

Hudson has been an assistant to Gregg Berhalter and is in charge as the program works out its direction as head coach, as Berhalter’s contract expired Dec. 31.

The situation is murky, as it appeared Berhalter was destined to stay in the job longer if he so chose, but Danielle Reyna’s ugly allegations prompted an investigation into a 31-year-old incident by the US Soccer Federation. USA

The USMNT plays Serbia on January 25 at LAFC’s home stadium before facing Colombia three days later in Carson, home of the LA Galaxy.

Brandon Vázquez leads the list and will probably lead the line. The 24-year-old was a staple in the Under-17 and Under-19 setups, but his professional career hit a longer fuse as he exploded with FC Cincinnati this season.

But there are other intriguing names, as Middlesbrough’s Matthew Hoppe has been sacked by the club and Real Sociedad’s Jonathan Gomez is also set to join the fray. Chelsea’s Gaga Slonina World Cup Veterans Gaga
