Taylor Kinney is stepping away from his hit show “Chicago Fire” on NBC.
A source close to the production told Fox News Digital that the 41-year-old actor, who has starred on the show for more than ten years, is taking “time off to deal with a personal matter.”
Deadline reported that the cast and crew were notified of Kenny’s departure on Friday. The series is currently airing its eleventh season and script rewrites may be required to account for the actor’s vacation.
A representative for the Chicago Fire declined to comment. A Kenyan representative did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Kinney has played Chicago firefighter Lieutenant Kelly Severide since the show premiered in October 2012. The “The Vampire Diaries” alum has also appeared in all other installments of Wolf Entertainment’s “One Chicago” franchise including “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Justice”.
Although Kenny’s character was previously known for being a “ladies’ man,” he married fellow firefighter Lt. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) at the end of season 10 this past May. The series aired its eleventh winter premiere on January 4 but the show is on a planned hiatus until February 8.

Last week, Kenny reflected on his first audition for “Chicago Fire” during an interview with NBC.
“I was on the audition circuit a lot, so I fit in that,” he said. “I remember never having anxiety. I was excited about it, and then I kind of left it to the powers that be,” she said.
“It worked out so well, and 10 years later I’m still here navigating you through your TVs as you fold clothes,” the Pennsylvania native jokes.
“Chicago Fire” airs Wednesdays at 9pm EST/PT on NBC.
