The Jackson County Recreation Center offers fishing lessons for youth in October.

Next month, the Jackson County Recreation Center will hold fishing lessons for youth in Pascagoula.

Classes are open to girls and boys aged seven to 12 who are just getting started in fishing.

Classes are on October 15th.th22thand 29thand will end with a graduation and classy fishing rodeo on November 5th.

Rental equipment will be available and bait will be provided free of charge.

The class will be led by instructor JL McNew. Jackson County Wildlife Specialist Barb Medlock said: “He teaches responsible fishing. We teach not to leave traces. We teach you how important it is to grab your line and bait as soon as you’re done. But only a good solid fishing technique and the ability to read water. Are the fish biting today? Where is the fish? Such things”.
